Edited by: Vampire Blade on 13/02/2005 15:54:27 the raptor is rubbish for inty vs inty. i can say this because i've fought 30 odd of the buggers on sisi in the past few days. it's pathetic @ "long-range" interceptor combat because it's just too easy to get out of 20k scramble range or to get into web range. the speed of the interceptor the raptor is fighting is irrelevent, you just can't get a quick-death, long-range raptor, the raptor simply *erodes* the target until it's unfortunate enough to have a crap pilot that will fly around until it dies, until the ship just flies away or webs you. approach any LR raptor and it will take maneuvers to correct it's range, at this point fly in the opposite direction and you can easily make 25k-30k range difference. and that distance is easy to keep in any interceptor until the cycle on the disruptor ends. now, on sisi you wouldn't warp out because the ships are free, so you'd have people flying around (outside of 20k for a good part) for a good 2-3 minutes being shot at by this raptor until they died, the raptor pilot would then think that this tactic is uber and valid in TQ warfare. i only have "ok, whatever you think" to say to that :( look at the difference between the crusader and the raptor which are both "valid" choices in long range interceptor combat. the crusader has 4 turret slots, the raptor has 2. i think the difference is quite clear just from that observation. now, the difference between the crow and a raptor. i'll just tell it as it was on sisi. i use 400 rt plates on my crow, the raptor was fit for long range. i would fly around until the raptor has taken 99% of my shield away. now, on TQ i wouldn't even go into combat in this state, i'd just get outside of 20k and warp out, and it's no mean feat to do this. it's actually really, really easy. however, when the raptor deemed it time to "unleash teh pwn" @ close range the crow would still own the pod out of the poor raptor because the damned thing has 950 hit points of armour to *erode* whereas poor little raptor has to see off over 700 points of damage from mr crow within the first few seconds of close range skirmishing. the raptor would die before it got the crow to 40% armour. this is the testament to it's strength.
my conclusion? use a crow, crusader, claw, even a stiletto, just not a raptor :( give it a third turret hardpoint. please. ----- ----- -----
